The Municipal Chief Executive for Dormaa Central, Honorable Dominic Adoma Ameyaw, has publicly announced that there exists only one registered and certified mining company in Dormaa Ahenkro and its surrounding communities, known as the Jagri Bekala Mining Company.

He asserted that any individuals involved in illegal mining activities within the Dormaa region will be apprehended and penalized. This stance is in alignment with the position of the President of Ghana, the traditional leaders of Dormaa Ahenkro, and the Bono Regional Minister, all of whom oppose illegal mining activities. Consequently, as the Municipal Chief Executive, he is firmly against such activities.

Honorable Dominic Adoma Ameyaw made this strong declaration during the presentation of trunks and mattresses to BECE graduates by the Jagri Bekala Mining Company.

He emphasized his strong opposition to the activities of illegal mining, commonly referred to as Galamsey, and pledged to make relentless efforts to combat this menace in Dormaa. He urged Nananom and residents of the various communities to report suspected Galamsey issues to him at the assembly stressing that upon receiving information about such activities within his jurisdiction, he would instruct the military and police to conduct operations in the area to ensure the immediate cessation of these activities, thereby protecting the lands and water bodies from the destructive consequences of Galamsey.

Honorable Dominic Adoma Ameyaw reiterated his commitment to eradicating the environmental and social issues caused by such unlawful mining practices by taking a decisive stand against these actions. He aims to protect the local environment and uphold the laws governing the community’s natural resources, ensuring that the negative impacts of these mining activities are addressed with urgency and determination.
