The Ministry of Health has given the Committee sanctioned to investigate why a woman was abandoned in the bush by the Trauma and Specialist Hospital, Winneba because her relatives did not show up within 30 days to produce their report on the matter.
Reports in the local media indicate that an aged woman who was sent to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital, Winneba was transported in an ambulance and abandoned in a bush in her hometown called Gomoa Ojobi because she was becoming a nuisance in the hospital and her relatives did not show up when she was brought there.
The aged woman is said to have died in the bush where she was abandoned as a result.
The incident which has brought about an uproar on social media is currently being investigated by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) which has pleaded with the public to be rest assured they will get to the bottom of the matter and punish all who are involved.
The medical director for the facility has since been asked to step aside to conduct the investigations.
