In a recent social media update, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) disclosed that they have identified 630 distribution transformers across various communities within their operational areas as being at full capacity due to heightened power demand. This situation may lead to blown fuses and damaged conductors, causing potential outages, particularly during the peak load period from 7 pm to 11 pm in the affected regions.
However, the post reassured customers that ongoing transformer upgrades and new projects are underway to alleviate strain on these transformers and ensure a more reliable power supply. Residents in the listed communities are urged to promptly report any localized outages or voltage fluctuations to the ECG Call Center or via their social media channels for swift resolution.
The ECG also appealed for the understanding and cooperation of affected customers as they strive to enhance Ghana’s power distribution network. Earlier this month, the Managing Director of ECG, Samuel Dubik Mahama, addressed the frequent power disruptions, attributing them to maintenance issues within the company. Mahama emphasized that as they operate machinery, malfunctions can occur unexpectedly, leading to the inconveniences experienced by the public.
