Efo Worlanyo Tsekpo, the parliamentary candidate for Hohoe representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged unwavering commitment to ensuring victory for the NDC in this year’s elections. Tsekpo assured the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, that every effort will be made to secure his presidency.
“We will fight till we win,” Tsekpo declared after Mahama’s visit to Hohoe on Thursday as part of his campaign. “We will double our efforts to ensure we win the elections,” he emphasized.
During a subsequent press conference, Mahama addressed concerns raised by NDC’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, regarding the peace pact. Mahama criticized the idea of glorifying a peace pact when justice has not been served for the eight NDC members killed during the 2020 elections, with no subsequent compensation or action taken.
Although the NDC has yet to make a final decision on signing the peace declaration, Mahama expressed understanding of Nketia’s position, which emphasizes justice over ceremonial agreements. Nketia had previously argued that past peace declarations have not resolved significant issues.
The National Peace Council has acknowledged the NDC’s concerns and is taking them into consideration.
