Mohammed Kudus Hails John Heitinga as the Best Coach He Worked With at Ajax
Mohammed Kudus has spoken highly of John Heitinga, describing him as the best coach he experienced during his time at Ajax Amsterdam.
Heitinga, who took on the role of interim head coach at Ajax in February 2023 following Alfred Schreuder’s dismissal, managed the team through the remainder of the 2022/23 season. Under his stewardship, Kudus had a standout season, scoring crucial goals and showcasing his talent, which eventually led to his move to West Ham United in the Premier League.
In an interview with Voetbal Primeur, Kudus expressed deep admiration for Heitinga’s coaching abilities and personal qualities.
“I felt very good under Heitinga,” Kudus said. “He is the best coach I have had at Ajax. Apart from the training aspect, I also hold him in high regard in terms of standards and values. Personally, I would have liked to have worked with him longer. He is a top trainer and I really appreciated his efforts to make the players better at the time.”
Heitinga has recently joined Liverpool as part of the backroom staff under new manager Arne Slot, who takes over from Jurgen Klopp. Kudus’ glowing endorsement of Heitinga comes amidst ongoing speculation linking him with a potential move to Liverpool, though there has been no formal offer from the Reds.
As Liverpool gears up for the new season with a bolstered technical team, Kudus’ praise for Heitinga underlines the promising impact the new assistant coach might bring to Anfield.
Kudus enjoyed a remarkable season at West Ham, where he scored 14 goals across all competitions. His comments reflect the positive influence Heitinga had on his development as a player, and they offer a glimpse into the high expectations surrounding Heitinga’s new role at Liverpool.
