Augustus Andrew Nana Akwasi, the regional chairman for Ashanti in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has praised the various electoral committees throughout the country for ensuring a successful primary.
The regional chairman praised Saturday’s election as quite democratic and transparent, suitable of the opposition party, in an interview with William Evans-Nkum.
“We have always set the pace; the NDC brought about the current democratic regime, and once more we have shown to everyone that we have a party with a strong democratic foundation,” he said.
All the winners were congratulated, and he told the losers that they would not be forgotten, adding, “We are for everyone, no one will be left behind.” Everyone benefits, and we’ll work together to make sure that all of our seats in the region are kept. To boost the population in the Ashanti region, we are focusing on other seats, he said.
Only Sekyere Afram Plains, one of the four districts currently supported by the NDC, saw the incumbent, Dr. Alex Adomako, lose his seat. Hajia Afrah Nasira defeated him.
Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak of Asawase, a former Minority Chief Whip, kept his position.
Additionally, Abdul-Salam Adams kept his seat in New Edubiase.
Delegates from Ejura Sekyedumase also chose Mohammed Bawah Braimah to serve as their leader till the 2024 elections.
