Kasoa Wontumi Weighs In on Alleged Assault of Nurse at Greater Accra Regional Hospital
Speaking during a media engagement, Kwame Ampadu, widely recognized in political circles as Kasoa Wontumi and a distinguished member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Communications Team in Awutu Senya East, addressed the controversy surrounding the reported assault of a nurse at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.
He noted that although the committee’s report revealed no substantiated evidence of physical assault, it did document a heated verbal altercation. He emphasized that the recommendations put forth were of paramount importance, particularly those advocating improved security protocols, enhanced surveillance measures, and a reconsideration of the reliance on rotational nurses to bolster healthcare delivery.
The NPP communicator further cautioned against the frequent politicization of healthcare issues, stressing that hospitals are sanctuaries of healing and not arenas for police intervention or partisan expediency. According to him, ensuring effective medical care requires a systemic commitment to equipping health institutions with the requisite tools, personnel, and infrastructure.
While underscoring the indispensability of frontline health workers, He condemned acts of hostility, verbal or otherwise, directed at nurses and doctors, describing such behavior as detrimental not only to professional morale but also to the nation’s broader health sector. He reiterated that Ghana’s development trajectory demands respect, protection, and adequate resourcing of its medical practitioners.
