Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has urged supporters to stop insulting the players and technical staff as part of their criticism of the team.

Ouattara and his players faced heavy pressure from fans following a poor start to the season with defeats in their opening two games leaving them at the bottom.

However, the Phobians returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Bechem United on matchday three at the University of Ghana Stadium.

After the crucial win, Ouattara addressed the fans, emphasising the need for unity.

“We’re working for them [supporters]. I understand when they criticise us,” Ouattara said in a post-match interview.

“You can criticise us and say anything you like, but please do not insult [us]. What we need is unity. We need to stay together, and if that happens, I think we can achieve a lot.”

The victory moved Hearts of Oak up to 10th place on the league table. Their next fixture is against Nations FC.
