GNAT Advocates For Improved infrastructures At Rural Areas And Good Conditions of Service
UNICEF 2021 Report indicates that Over 5,000 schools still operate under trees, 6,700 schools without functional toilet facilities , 3,800 schools without portable water with 40% of public schools being over crowded.
The Ghana national Association of Teachers (GNAT) is urging government to improve school infrastructure development in deprived areas and motivate teachers at deprived communities.
She indicated teachers at deprived areas faces peculiar challenges in the line of duty hence needs to be motivated for such efforts.
The chairperson for Gomoa East GNAT ,Mrs Abigail Darkoh made this known at the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) training organised for teachers by Gomoa East GNAT and Edubest / Rinnovate consultancy.
she also pleaded with government to consider giving teachers rent allowances.
Mrs.Petty Johnson , a facilitator , advised that teachers put into practice this new strategies that has been introduced to them to yield good results as far as teaching is concerned.
Some teachers and heads of schools who benefited from the training shared highlighted on the significance of the program and reiterated on the need for government to improve infrastructure development in the region.
