Andre Ayew, the captain of Ghana’s national team, is confident that talent is the crucial element to winning the FIFA U20 World Cup.
Ayew led the Black Satellites to a historic victory in 2009, making them the first and only African team to win the U20 World Cup. In a recent interview with FIFA, Ayew emphasized that success at the youth level requires talent, even though it is not on par with major international competitions like the AFCON, EURO, Copa America, or the seniors’ World Cup.
Ayew’s career skyrocketed after winning the tournament, and he earned a rapid promotion to the Black Stars, where he excelled at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Ayew, now Ghana’s most capped player with 113 appearances at the senior level, played a significant role in Ghana’s reaching the final of the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.
