GA SOUTH MCE POISED TO ERECT FACTORY TO BOOST AGRICULTURE AND EMPLOYMENT IN THE MUNICIPALITY
Hon. Moses Kabu Ocansey, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga South, has expressed his strong commitment to developing the municipality.
Speaking during an interview with Kusi Damoah on the Omanbapa Kasa Morning Show on Pink FM, he revealed that his administration is determined to support the agricultural sector in the municipality.
He disclosed plans to establish a factory at Obom Domeabra to process agricultural produce from the municipality, particularly a starch factory that will refine products into beer and other profitable goods.
According to him, a parcel of land has already been secured at the Ahwenagmor Electoral Area for the project. The factory, he added, will help close the unemployment gap by creating jobs and opportunities for the youth. It also aligns with the NDC’s “Resetting Agenda” and the 24-hour economy initiative.
Hon. Ocansey further stated that in his few months in office, he has collaborated with a private company, Sonda, which has so far employed about 50 young people in the municipality. The company is collaborating with the MCE to employ about 300 youths. Fortunately, Sonda has also established another branch, an annex opposite its main branch in the municipality, which will soon employ more young people.
On security, the MCE assured residents that adequate measures have been put in place to address safety concerns. He cited the unfortunate shooting of a 22-year-old mobile money vendor a few months ago as a wake-up call for more intensive protection efforts.
To strengthen security, his office wrote to the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, requesting patrol vehicles for the municipal police. Hon. Ocansey said the IGP’s response met his expectations.
Additionally, the Assembly has acquired over 200 streetlights to help combat crime in the municipality. Over 100 of these will be distributed to Assembly Members, while the Member of Parliament for the area will also receive a share for community safety projects.
