Chelsea’s season took a sharp turn for the worst as they lost to Wolves at home for the first time in almost 44 years.
The supporters lost patience with Mauricio Pochettino’s team’s lackluster performance and jeered them off at both halftime and fulltime. The team is valued at £1 billion.

Wolves fans teasingly chanted “you’re getting sacked in the morning” at the Chelsea head coach, putting further strain on the Argentine.
And the Blues supporters who were still inside Stamford Bridge followed in, turning on their own manager in a fit of rage after Matheus Cunha hammered home in the 82nd minute to complete his hat-trick.
Although his status is in doubt, it seems doubtful that he would be fired before the Wembley Carabao Cup match against Liverpool later this month.
There are no promises, though, as Chelsea’s owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have already fired two managers after purchasing the team for more than £4 billion in 2022.
Unquestionably, this was one of the most egregious performances of an already unpredictable season in which the most expensive team in British football history failed terribly.
Worse, they even gained the lead, only to give it away in the space of three minutes before an incredible collapse occurred.
After nineteen minutes, Cole Palmer put them ahead.
On minute 22, after midfielder Moises Caicedo, who costs £115 million, made a mistake and lost control, Cunha responded with the first of his three goals.
Cunha’s shot caught defender Thiago Silva off guard, catching Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic off guard.
Just before the half, Wolves took the lead thanks to further careless play from the home team that let Axel Disasi score an own goal off of Rayan Ait-Nouri’s shot.
And when Pedro Netro sprinted down the wing and cut the ball back for Cunha to smash home a soaring shot from 15 yards out in the 63rd minute, Chelsea was once more brutally exposed.
Eight minutes remained when Cunha was taken down by full-back Malo Gusto, who then rose up to score from the spot.
With four minutes remaining, Silva gave Chelsea a little comfort, but the home form that has carried the squad through a turbulent season has now deserted them as well.
They have not lost at Stamford Bridge in eleven games, when they suffered a setback against Brentford on October 28.
The last time Chelsea lost in Division One at home was against Wolves in May 1979.
After this loss, they drop into the bottom half of the table, with Wolves jumping up to tenth position.
