Nana Okoawia Jumo Baabu, the Chief of Koforidua-Effiduase, has thrown his support behind Mr Seth Kwame Acheampong, the Eastern Regional Minister and NPP parliamentary aspirant for New Juaben North.
The endorsement came during the first Akwasidae celebration of the new year, where the Chief rallied Effiduase residents to throw their support behind the Minister.
In a strong endorsement, the Chief highlighted Acheampong’s local roots and familial ties to the region, emphasizing his status as a true royal and likening him to the Gyasehene.
Nana Baabu addressed concerns about Acheampong’s switch from Mpreaso, emphasizing the deep connections the regional minister holds with Juaben North.
“Kwame Acheampong is not just from Effiduase; he is a true royal and can be described as my Gyasehene since the current Gyasehene, Nana Baffour Amofa Aku, is his direct uncle,” declared the chief.
Acheampong, who lost his fourth-term bid as the Mpreaso MP in 2020, justified his right to contest in New Juaben North, citing his indigene status in Koforidua-Effiduase.
He expressed gratitude for the endorsement and hopes to secure the NPP parliamentary candidacy on January 27.
