Burnley and CHELSEA have reached a contract agreement for left-back Ian Maatsen.

The defender is reportedly hesitant to transfer to Turf Moor.

Burnley is not Ian Maatsen’s top choice for a transfer on deadline day.

The transfer of Marc Cucurella to Manchester United was unsuccessful.

The two clubs have reportedly reached an agreement on a loan deal that includes a £31.5 million buy-back commitment, according to The Telegraph.

Maatsen is reportedly not interested in moving to the newly elevated team, according to Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian.

Despite spending the previous season on loan with the Clarets, this is the case.

Maatsen has been granted permission by Chelsea to meet with Burnley, and the Blues anticipate that he will depart before the transfer market closes on Friday night.

According to reports, Mauricio Pochettino’s team added a sell-on provision to the agreement, guaranteeing them a profit should Maatsen decide to leave Burnley in the future.

After Marc Cucurella’s transfer to Manchester United fell through during the past 48 hours, Maatsen might go.

The result places the 21-year-old Dutchman below Ben Chilwell and Cucurella on the food chain.

Since his arrival at Stamford Bridge four years ago, Maatsen has only played four times for the first squad.

He has spent time on loan at Charlton and Coventry during that period.

Then, as Burnley won promotion to the Premier League in 2022–23, he participated in 39 of their 46 league games.

After a stellar season, he was also included in the Championship Team of the Season.

In the summer, he rejoined Chelsea and came off the bench in matches against Luton and Liverpool in the Premier League.

In Wednesday’s 2-1 Carabao Cup victory over Wimbledon, he also got off to a good start in midfield.
