Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, founder and leader of the Movement for Change, has outlined one of his key policy initiatives if elected president: establishing a dedicated bank to support traders in the private sector.

Mr. Kyerematen emphasized that this proposed bank would offer credit and loan facilities tailored specifically for traders, recognizing their significant contribution to the country’s development.

During a spontaneous visit to the Madina market to extend sympathy and support to traders affected by a recent fire outbreak, Kyerematen reiterated the importance of prioritizing the welfare of traders in government agendas. He initiated his campaign tour by visiting various market centers across the country, underscoring the critical role traders play in Ghana’s economy.

“In my engagements, I have pledged to prioritize the comprehensive revitalization of retail market infrastructure nationwide, including the construction of new market centers,” Kyerematen stated. He emphasized that while it’s not solely the government’s responsibility, his administration would provide support and incentives to the private sector for constructing these market centers, ensuring affordability for traders.

Furthermore, Kyerematen pledged that these modern market facilities would include amenities such as clinics, childcare centers, and company lorry stations, catering to the diverse needs of traders.

He highlighted the inadequacy of current market infrastructure, emphasizing the need for safer and more conducive trading environments.
