The founder and President of Up and Shine Foundation, Rev Richard Nii Amartey Adesah, has appealed to the government and stakeholders for support.
Rev Amartey, who is also the former Chairman for Ghana Amputee Football Association and President of Africa Amputee Federation, made this appeal at a press conference held at Jesus the Gate Chapel International at Nkyenkyene off Nsawam – Pakro road.
He stated that persons with disabilities are part of society and should be attended to. He highlighted that only a few people are supporting them, and the majority of the support comes from him. He also stated that there is no support from the government, and he wishes the government would come to their aid.
Rev Amartey advised parents with disabled children to desist from stigmatization and encouraged the children not to lose hope. He pleaded with the general public to support them with wheelchairs, teaching and learning kits, money, and foodstuffs.
The Tufuhene for the Adentahene of Aburi Adonten, Nana Kwaku Aniapam II, commended the founder and President of Up and Shine Foundation, Rev Richard Nii Amartey Adesah, for taking care of the disabled and giving hope to them.
Nana Kwaku Aniapam II advised parents that, through their negligence, they can cause disability to their children. He also advised fathers to be responsible irrespective of their children’s status.
Speaking to the media, the children outlined the challenges they are facing in the school. They appealed to the general public for infrastructure, foodstuffs, mattresses, wheelchairs, etc. They also commended the school for helping them academically.
