The Public Utility and regulatory commission (PURC) has announced an 18.36% increment in electricity and water which takes effect today, June 1, 2023.
Kwaku Mensah Abrampa in an interview with the Bono and Bono East Regional Manager of PURC Mr. Patrick Antwi on High Radio Breakfast Show dubbed High Morning Breeze, affirmed the decision and backed it with several reasons being the fluctuation of Cedi against the dollar and inflation among several others.
Mr. Patrick Antwi finally pleaded with the general public to pay their electricity and water bills on time to avoid being disconnected and help the power distributors in the discharge of their duties revealing that the electricity power and water are generated through several processes that require the use of money hence the need to pay electricity and water bills.
High Radio News spoke to some residents in the Tano South Municipality over the newly adjusted tariffs, they opposed the decision and called on government to review some of nuisance taxes imposed on Ghanaians that has also affected water and electricity bills.
