ACCIDENT AT WINNEBA JUNCTION

The Effutu Municipal Command received a distress call reporting an accident at Winneba junction at 1614 hours.

Upon arrival at the scene, the crew observed that a Daf fuel tanker with registration number WR 4339 C which was loaded with diesel travelling from Accra to Cape Coast was lying on its driver side and a trailer with foreign registration numbers 0261BG and 310BH at the rear and front respectively travelling to Accra were involved in an accident.

Fire personnel quickly neutralised the heavily spilt diesel with foam compound to prevent any fire outbreak or explosion and supervised the successful transfer of the diesel into another tanker.

Two casualties who were rescued before the arrival of Firefighters were rushed to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital for treatment.
