10 Injured In Accident On Accra-Kumasi Highway

An accident that occurred on Thursday night involving a KIA Hyundai Rhino and a Scania VIP bus on the Accra-Kumasi highway has left at least ten people injured in Nobewam. Eyewitnesses reported that the VIP bus driver attempted a wrong overtaking maneuver, leading to a head-on collision. Firefighters from the Asante Akyem fire station and personnel from the Ambulance Service were at the scene and quickly rushed the injured to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

 

Meanwhile, two separate fatal accidents were reported in the Central Region on April 23. The first accident occurred on the Cape Coast – Kumasi highway, where a private Isuzu pickup with registration number WR -456-W carrying fourteen passengers collided with an object while traveling from Cape Coast towards Assin Juaso. Three people died, and twelve others sustained severe injuries in the crash.

 

In the second accident, a Renault tanker with registration number WR-2116-22 was transporting limestone from Takoradi towards Kumasi when it knocked down a pedestrian at Assin Asempanaye near Assin Praso. The pedestrian, identified as Emmanuel Obu, aged 32, died instantly from the impact of the collision, as his head was crushed by the vehicle.

 

The accidents serve as a reminder to drivers to exercise caution while driving to prevent loss of lives and damage to property. It is essential to adhere to traffic regulations and ensure that vehicles are adequately maintained to avoid preventable accidents.
