Police have made an arrest in connection with the abduction of a 12-year-old girl in Wa, a town located in the Upper West Region of Ghana. The victim’s father reported that his daughter, a primary four pupil, was abducted on Saturday, April 22, 2023, while on an errand to buy drugs from a chemical shop.

According to the victim’s account of the incident, she was accosted by two unidentified men on a motorbike who threatened to kill her if she raised an alarm. They took her to an uncompleted building, tied her limbs with a rope, and covered her mouth with a handkerchief. She managed to escape the following day when the men abandoned her.

The Upper West police launched an investigation into the case and have arrested one suspect, identified as Anthony Morgan, who is said to be in his late 30s. His accomplice, however, is still on the run.

Although the victim appears to be physically healthy, her father reported that she has been living in constant fear after the incident. The police have assured the public that they are doing everything in their power to bring the second suspect to justice and ensure that the victim and her family receive the support they need.
