The Ghana Police Service in recent times has recorded a lot of incidents that look down on the integrity of the service which has kept a section of Ghanaians talking. A recent incident was a circulated video of armed police officers battling with civilians at Galamsey sight where the police needed to kneel before the civilians to save his life and work.

Reacting to these unfortunate incidents happening in the police service, Honorable Appiah Joseph, a communication team Member for the NPP for the Tano South constituency who doubles as an Assembly member for Atɛkyɛm electoral area has noted that leaders of the Ghana police service must retrain the police officers to make correspondence to the current policing technique which according to him will strengthen issues of security in the country and maintain the integrity of the service as their MOTTO says (Service with Integrity)

Speaking in a discussion segment on High Radio Breakfast Show dubbed High Morning Breeze Chaired by Kwaku Mensah Abrampa, Hon. Appiah Joseph indicated that policing is not a matter of putting fear in the civilian but to get closer to civilians to ensure their safety and getting fed with intelligence to boost security stressing that some police personnel abuse guns in public when misunderstanding ensued between the police and civilians which according to him are bad practices denting the image of Ghana police hence authorities of Ghana Police must retrain the police staff to instill discipline to the service.

Hon. Appiah Joseph languished over the current temperament of some of the police personnel and urged them to change from some of these negative behavior towards the civilians indicating that it will be very difficult for civilians to attack policemen living a decent life

Finally, the communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress in the Tano South Constituency Mr. Sana Sita attributed the recent happenings in the police service to the politicization of the security services.

He said the slots and opportunities given to members of parliament and other political appointees to present constituents and other members for employment must be abolished because persons picked by these politicians into the service may lack the needed skills but will accept to work in the service due to lack of employment hence authorities must ensure they revoke those avenues given to politicians to get people presented for employment in the security services this according to him will restore the integrity of the police service and maximize security.
