Gomoa West NDC Aspirant Captaine Smart Supports CHIPS Trainees with Feeding Grants

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary aspirant for Gomoa West, Captaine Blessed Godsbrain Smart, has visited over 250 trainees at the Chafas Institute of Practical Studies (CHIPS), also known as the Chafas Training Centre, to assess the progress of their skills training and provide feeding grants.
Interacting with trainees drawn from various towns and villages within the constituency on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Mr. Smart urged them to appreciate the little gestures extended to them.

“It is when you appreciate the little you have that you can build upon it to better your lot,” he admonished.
Recounting his personal journey to motivate the trainees, Mr. Smart revealed that his career had been built largely on his secondary school certificate.
“The little education I had at Gomoa Techiman and my secondary education at Apam is what I have relied on throughout my working life,” he shared.

He further disclosed that he only relocated to Accra in 2013 to pursue tertiary education. “I have now completed my first degree and master’s degree and I am currently pursuing a PhD,” he noted, counselling them to value humble beginnings which could serve as a linchpin to greater heights.
Furthermore, he advised them to make positive affirmations about their lives. “From today, when you retire to bed, look into the sky and tell yourself that you will never be poor again,” he stressed, to thunderous applause from the trainees.
On the relevance of skills training, Mr. Smart highlighted that although formal educational opportunities abound in Germany, premium is placed on individuals with practical, hands-on skills.
Looking to the future, he urged the trainees to take their training seriously and to consider furthering their education after completion. He however encouraged them to commit to training at least one person when they graduate and become masters in their respective fields.
A major highlight of the engagement was his announcement that the first-ever Aerospace Engineering University will be built in Gomoa West. “We need about 1,000 acres of land for the university, after which construction will commence. We will need more excavator and backhoe operators, and your expertise will come in handy. Learn hard, the future looks bright for Gomoa West,” he stated.
Also in attendance was the Mankrado of Gomoa Asempayin and Amankorahene of the Gomoa Assin Traditional Area, Nana Kumasa Krampa, who represented Obirifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea II, President and Paramount Chief of the Gomoa Assin Traditional Area. Nana Krampa conveyed the Paramount Chief’s warm greetings and encouragement to the trainees.
Recounting events after his elevation as Amankorahene, Nana Krampa said his greatest ambition had been to eradicate illicit drug use among the youth. “If today I am addressing a gathering of youth who are not involved in drugs but are undergoing skills training, I am more than elated,” he said.
He concluded by encouraging the trainees to take their training seriously and to return to contribute their quota to the development of the traditional area.
