A twelve-year-old boy has been found dead in a bush behind a building fence at Opeikuma Vat in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.
According to reports, the boy was allegedly killed by his mother, Gifty, who is reported to have previously received treatment for a suspected mental health condition.
However, the circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been independently confirmed.
Reports indicate that the mother allegedly chased the boy from their home before catching up with him.
She is said to have struggled with the child before allegedly killing him and attempting to conceal his body in a muddy water-filled pit.
Speaking to Nana Ansah, a resident, Madam Comfort Yaboah, said the suspect Gifty, had previously been taken away by her family for treatment because of concerns about her mental health.
She explained that the woman appeared to be behaving normally after returning home but allegedly began exhibiting unusual behaviour again.
Madam Yaboah further alleged that Gifty chased her son, killed him, placed part of his body in a muddy pit and covered his head with a plastic container.
The incident has raised concerns among residents, while further details about the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death remain unclear.
