The Ghana Education Service has clarified that newly promoted teachers do not need to submit additional documents or applications before their salaries are adjusted to reflect their new ranks.
The clarification follows concerns raised by some newly promoted teachers who said they had been asked in some regions and districts to submit application letters, promotion letters and other documents to facilitate salary adjustments.
In a statement, the Ghana Education Service explained that teachers who are promoted to new ranks are automatically placed on the appropriate salary scale corresponding to their new positions.
The Service stressed that this existing practice has not changed and urged affected teachers to disregard requests to submit documents specifically for salary adjustments.
The GES Management said it is engaging some regions and districts where such requests were reportedly being made to ensure that the correct procedure is followed.
The Service has also appealed to newly promoted teachers to remain calm while the issue is being addressed.
The clarification is expected to bring relief to teachers who were uncertain about the process of moving onto their new salary scales after promotion.
