The Ministry of Education has called on the Ghana Police Service to intensify efforts to locate, arrest and prosecute the interdicted Bole Senior High School teacher who remains at large weeks after a nationwide search was launched.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, July 14, and signed by Deputy Minister for Education Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, the Ministry expressed concern over the teacher’s continued absence despite the seriousness of the allegations levelled against him.

The Ministry said the teacher’s recent media interview, in which he claimed his actions were unintentional and appealed for a transfer to a village school, could provide investigators with useful leads.

It urged the Police to make use of available resources, including digital tracking and information from the source of the interview, to help locate him.

According to the Ministry, information gathered so far suggests that the alleged misconduct was deliberate and not accidental. It further disclosed that investigators have obtained additional videos reportedly showing the teacher engaging in similar inappropriate conduct with other female students.

The Ministry described the alleged actions as unacceptable and inconsistent with the standards expected of members of the teaching profession, stressing that teachers must uphold the trust and responsibility placed on them.

It reiterated Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu’s position that any form of misconduct within schools must be dealt with firmly to protect students and maintain safe learning environments.

The Ministry also appealed to members of the public with credible information about the teacher’s whereabouts to report to the Police or the Ministry of Education.

Beyond the Bole SHS case, the Ministry raised concerns about increasing cases of indiscipline involving teachers, school authorities and students across the country.

It warned that such behaviour affects teaching and learning, weakens public confidence in educational institutions and threatens efforts to create safe and disciplined schools.

The Ministry disclosed that the Education Minister has directed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to strictly enforce disciplinary measures against all forms of misconduct in pre-tertiary institutions.

It added that plans are underway to organise a National Dialogue on indiscipline in schools, bringing together key stakeholders to develop lasting solutions to the challenge.
