Gomoa East DCE Leads Successful Clean-Up Exercise at Dominase

As part of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s monthly “Operation Clean Your Community” initiative, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa East, Margaret Naana Ackom, joined residents of dominase for a massive clean-up exercise on Saturday.

The exercise, which took place specifically at the onion market , brought together both the youth and elderly, all united in a shared effort to improve sanitation in the area. Participants focused on clearing choked gutters and cleaning up heavily polluted parts of the environment.

Addressing participants after the exercise, Hon. Ackom expressed her appreciation to everyone especially the market women for their support and commended them for their strong turnout and commitment to making the cleanup possible.

She further announced the formation of sanitation task forces tasked with enforcing proper waste disposal practices in the area. According to her, individuals caught dumping refuse in unauthorized locations will be arrested, taken to the police station, and fined GH₵1,000. She added that 20 percent of the fine will be awarded to anyone who reports or apprehends offenders, as part of efforts to discourage indiscriminate waste disposal.

She urged the residents to keep their places clean during this rainy periods stating that any waste disposal disposed at unauthorized places can cause flood, especially as we are still in the raining season.

The clean-up exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to promote environmental cleanliness and public health across communities, with Nyanyano setting a strong example through active participation and collaboration.

Also adding a voice, honourable Patrick Abekah pleaded with the people of the Dominase market to keep their surroundings clean and healthy for their own safety and the safety of the community.
