Residents of Twifo Praso in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region have been thrown into a state of shock following the discovery of a dead man at the Twifo Praso GPRTU Station.
The deceased, believed to be in his early fifties, was found lifeless behind the GPRTU office building in the early hours of Thursday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the man arrived at the Twifo Praso lorry terminal on Wednesday aboard a commercial vehicle travelling from Accra.
Upon arrival, he reportedly informed some drivers, station workers, and traders at the station that he was waiting for his son to come and pick him up before proceeding home.
Sources at the station indicated that the man spent several hours at the terminal waiting for his relative.
Some witnesses said he appeared calm and was seen interacting with people around the station throughout the day.
However, concern arose when he was found lying motionless behind the GPRTU office building the following morning.
A crowd quickly gathered at the scene, and the matter was reported to the police.
Officers from the Twifo Praso Police Command arrived at the scene and conducted preliminary investigations before conveying the body to the Twifo Praso Government Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be officially established, while the exact cause of death remains unknown.
Police have commenced investigations into the incident and are making efforts to trace the deceased’s family members to assist in identification and further inquiries.
Residents have expressed sadness over the unfortunate incident and are calling for a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the man’s death.
