The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) are exploring a collaborative capacity-building initiative aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and safety.
Under the proposed plan, ECG will provide specialized training to GNFS personnel to improve their knowledge of electrical fire hazards and related emergencies. In return, the GNFS will equip ECG safety officers and staff with fire safety management skills, while promoting selected safety officers to the rank of fire wardens to strengthen emergency preparedness within the company.
On Wednesday, 6th May 2026, the Greater Accra Regional Fire Officer (RFO), ACFO II Rashid Kwame Nisawu, along with senior officers from the Regional Command, paid a courtesy visit to ECG’s Accra West Regional Headquarters.
The visit aimed to reinforce the long-standing partnership between the two institutions and explore new opportunities for collaboration. The delegation was warmly received by Ing. Mrs. Sariel Etwire, General Manager of ECG Accra West Region, and members of the regional management team.
Discussions focused on the critical roles both institutions play in safeguarding public safety, particularly in electrical fire prevention and emergency response.
