The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, has bolstered the government’s National Apprenticeship Programme by presenting essential tools and equipment to apprentices and master craft facilitators in her constituency. She emphasized that skills development is key to job creation and economic empowerment.

The event, held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly, was part of efforts to transform the government’s apprenticeship agenda into tangible support for grassroots beneficiaries. Apprentices and their trainers received working tools designed to enhance productivity, strengthen vocational training, and support the growth of small-scale trades within the constituency.

In her address, Madam Aubynn expressed that the initiative reflects a strong commitment to empowering local artisans and providing sustainable pathways for young people to acquire employable skills and achieve self-reliance. She pointed out that vocational training plays a crucial role in addressing unemployment and improving livelihoods, particularly among the youth, and urged beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunities available through the programme.

In a further bid to expand opportunities for artisans, the Ablekuma North MP appealed to the government and relevant stakeholders to consider engaging local tailors and dressmakers in the production of school uniforms for students. She argued that such initiatives would not only support local businesses but also create jobs, reduce unemployment, and boost incomes for artisans. “This is one practical way of linking skills training to economic opportunity,” she said, stressing that public procurement could be used to strengthen local industries while delivering social impact.

The Regional Coordinator of the National Apprenticeship Programme, who attended the event, provided valuable insights into the programme and outlined the various opportunities available to beneficiaries, including skills enhancement and enterprise development.

Officials stated that the distribution of tools is part of a wider strategy to ensure that apprentices are equipped with both technical knowledge and the necessary resources to establish themselves in their respective trades. The initiative has been hailed as a significant contribution to the government’s broader efforts to promote technical and vocational education as a means of generating employment and reducing poverty.

For many beneficiaries, the support is expected to ease startup challenges and facilitate their transition from training into productive work. The event also highlighted the growing efforts of the Ablekuma North MP to align constituency-level interventions with national development goals, particularly in the areas of youth empowerment, skills training, and local economic development.

Madam Aubynn’s intervention brings practical action to the National Apprenticeship Programme’s vision of turning policy commitments into tangible support that improves lives. With the presentation of tools to apprentices and facilitators, stakeholders view this initiative as a crucial step towards enhancing self-reliance, expanding economic opportunities, and improving prospects for young people in Ablekuma North.
