Salaga to Get Satellite Passport Office – Zuwera Ibrahimah

The Member of Parliament for Salaga-South, Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has announced plans by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to establish a satellite passport office in Salaga to improve access to passport services in the area.

The announcement follows a working visit by a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by the Acting Director of Passports, Mahama Yahaya Amantana, to Salaga after an appeal by the MP to the Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

Madam Ibrahimah made the appeal during the commissioning of the Savannah Regional Passport Office in Damongo on December 31, 2025, citing the long distance between Salaga and Damongo as a major challenge for residents seeking passport services.

The delegation was received on behalf of the MP by the Municipal Chief Executive for East Gonja Municipality, Kassim Yazid Rabiu, together with the Salaga-South Constituency Chairman, Haruna Abdul Aziz.

During the visit, the team paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Kpembe Traditional Area, Yiram Kpembewura Banbange Ndefoso IV, who welcomed the decision and pledged the full support of the traditional authority for the establishment of the facility.

The chief noted that the proposed satellite passport office would bring passport services closer to the people while also creating employment opportunities for the youth.

The delegation later inspected possible office locations, including facilities at the Salaga Business Resource Centre, to determine their suitability for the proposed office. An assessment report will be submitted to guide the next steps.
