A self-styled marriage counsellor, Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Conduah, has been arrested by the Cyber Security Authority in a joint operation with the Ghana Police Service over alleged involvement in child sexual abuse material.
The arrest was disclosed by the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George.
According to the minister, the suspect is accused of sexually abusing a 17-year-old victim over a period of several years and allegedly recording the acts.
Investigators further claim that the recordings were uploaded to international pornographic websites, prompting authorities to launch a probe that led to his arrest.
Rev. Conduah was subsequently arraigned before court and has been remanded into custody for three weeks to allow investigators to continue their work.
The case is being handled under provisions of the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038), which criminalises the production, possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.
Authorities say further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
