CLOGSAG to Launch Nationwide Strike Over Service Conditions Starting Monday, March 9

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has declared a nationwide strike, directing all members of the Civil Service and Local Government Service to stay home starting Monday, March 9, 2026, until further notice.

In the days leading up to the strike, Labour Minister Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo intervened, holding discussions with the Finance Minister and acknowledging the association’s grievances. He urged CLOGSAG members to “believe the promise” and called for the strike to be averted, noting that the planned action had “taken the government by surprise.”

Despite the government’s appeal, CLOGSAG remained firm. A circular issued on March 5 confirmed that the strike would go ahead as scheduled.

If sustained, the industrial action is expected to significantly disrupt public administration nationwide, particularly at the district assembly level.
