Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Phyllis Naa Koryoo, has urged the public to remain calm as investigations into the 2020 and 2024 electoral violence continue. She says she is confident the true facts will be revealed when the task force completes its work.

Addressing a press conference on November 6, 2025, the NDC MP refuted claims by Interior Minister Mubarak Muntaka that she denied any attack on her convoy. According to her, multiple videos documenting the incident have already been made available to the investigative committee.

“I am convinced that when this investigation is concluded, the real truth will emerge,” she stated.

Naa Koryoo added that she cannot stay silent on what she described as an inconclusive report from the Interior Minister, explaining that she has not yet submitted any written statement to the police.

Background

Earlier this week, the Interior Minister reported findings from the task force probing electoral violence in 2020 and 2024. He indicated that Naa Koryoo allegedly denied knowledge of the violence that marred her election — an incident that claimed one life.

The minister stated that persons who were present during the shooting have refused to cooperate with investigators, while one of the key individuals, Mohammed Ali, has reportedly been flown abroad for medical treatment. Further investigations are still ongoing
