Homowo celebration, Ngleshie Amanfro’s Call for Development

The Divisional Chief of Ngleshie Amanfro, Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV, has called on the government to provide his community with a fair share of national resources to address long-standing development challenges. Speaking at this year’s Homowo festival celebration, the chief highlighted the community’s struggles with poor road networks and drainage systems, which often lead to flooding during rainy seasons.

The chief expressed frustration that politicians often fail to fulfill their campaign promises to the community, with some not showing up after elections. He urged the government to prioritize Ngleshie Amanfro’s development needs.

The Ga South MCE, Hon. Moses Kabu Kabi Ocansey, responded to the chief’s demands, stating that the Assembly is working on solutions to address the community’s challenges. He assured that Ngleshie Amanfro will benefit from the government’s policy to construct 10 kilometers of roads in some districts.

The traditional priest of Ngleshie Amanfro, NUMO KANKAM II, emphasized the significance of agriculture in the community’s history and culture. He encouraged youths to venture into agriculture, suggesting backyard farming and taking advantage of government initiatives.

The Homowo festival, which commemorates the Ga people’s triumph over hunger and famine, was celebrated with great enthusiasm. The traditional priest’s call for youths to engage in agriculture serves as a reminder of the importance of farming in the community’s heritage.
