MPs don’t construct roads but good lobbying skills do – Dormaa Central MP

The Member of Parliament for Dormaa Central Constituency, Hon. John Kwame Adu-Jack, has asserted that Members of Parliament do not personally finance road construction projects. However, a Member of Parliament with adept lobbying skills can advocate for the construction of roads within their constituency.

During an interview with journalists, he remarked that the immediate past Member of Parliament for Dormaa Central, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu, during his 16-year tenure in Parliament, managed to address only 20 percent of the primary challenges facing Dormaa Central, leaving the remaining 80 percent as a substantial burden for him in his current role as Member of Parliament.

Hon. John Kwame Adu-Jack emphasized that among the myriad challenges within the Municipality, roads are the foremost issues requiring urgent attention, underscoring that while Members of Parliament do not construct roads themselves, their lobbying capabilities are crucial in facilitating road construction.

He criticized the former Health Minister and previous Dormaa Central MP, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu, for his persistent neglect in the construction and completion of significant roads in Dormaa Central, particularly the Amasu and Aboabo roads, despite serving as a cabinet minister for over seven years alongside the Road Minister under the Nana Addo/Bawumia NPP administration.

Honorable John Kwame Adu-Jack expressed his preparedness to expedite the improvement of the dilapidated roads in the Dormaa Central Constituency. He highlighted his pivotal role in orchestrating President John Dramani Mahama’s visits to Aboabo and Amasu during the campaign period, ensuring the President gained firsthand insight into the condition of the roads, thereby capturing his attention for their construction.

He lamented the neglect of the Aboabo/Amasu roads, which had been approximately 85% completed by the previous NDC administration under Presidents Mills and Mahama, but remained untouched during the eight years of the Nana Addo/Bawumia NPP administration. He revealed how the former MP made empty promises during the past campaign seasons, which motivated him to host President Mahama at Aboabo and Amasu during the NDC campaign period, allowing him to gain firsthand insight into the condition of the roads for prompt construction.
