Hearts of Oak Coach Aboubakar Ouattara Under Pressure After Back-to-Back Defeats in 2024/25 Ghana Premier League

Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara is under increasing scrutiny following two consecutive defeats at the start of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season. The embattled coach saw his side suffer a 2-0 loss to Heart of Lions in Kpando, just a week after a shock 1-0 defeat to newly promoted Basake Holy Stars.

Ouattara, whose support among fans was already wavering, now finds himself on the brink as the club’s struggles deepen. Despite a vote of confidence from the club’s management earlier in the week, his future at Hearts of Oak appears uncertain, with many speculating a potential managerial change if the team’s fortunes don’t improve soon.

In the clash against Heart of Lions, Nana Oppong broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute, and Ishmael Addo doubled the lead just minutes later, sealing a comfortable victory. The defeat has sparked alarm within the Hearts of Oak fanbase, as it marks the first time since October 2009 that the club has lost its opening two games of the season.

After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, Hearts of Oak had hoped for a stronger start this year. However, with two straight losses, Ouattara now faces an uphill battle to regain the trust of supporters and stabilize the team. There is growing concern that management may be forced to reassess their stance on the coach if results don’t improve in the coming matches.
