On Friday, 13th September, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo fulfilled a long-standing promise to the people of Jamestown and Ghana by commissioning the long-awaited Jamestown Fishing Harbour.

This modern facility, which had been a dream for the community since 1965, stands as a testament to the government’s dedication to transforming local economies and improving livelihoods, particularly for the hardworking fisherfolk who sustain their families through the fishing industry.

 

The new harbour goes beyond being just another infrastructure project—it is a lifeline for the people of Jamestown. With its state-of-the-art amenities, including a fish market, ice-making plant, cold store, and daycare centre for mothers, the harbour is set to revolutionize the handling and storage of fish, boost economic activities, and create jobs for the local population.
