Egyptian club Ghazl El Mahalla are set to acquire the services of Ghanaian left-back Abdul Fatawu Hamidu from Medeama SC, barring any unforeseen issues, confirmed by GHANAsoccernet.com,

The team, who recently returned to the top-flight league, is eager to strengthen their defence for the upcoming 2024-25 season, which kicks off in September.

Hamidu has been a standout player for Medeama, playing a crucial role in their first-ever Ghana Premier League title win in the 2022-23 season.

He also shone in the CAF Champions League, where Medeama made it to the group stage for the first time.

Since his national team debut in September of last year, the 25-year-old has gained attention from various clubs.

Despite interest from Egyptian giants Zamalek SC, their coach rejected the offer, paving the way for El Mahalla to secure his signature.

Hamidu’s addition to their squad would greatly benefit their campaign in the Egyptian Premier League and other domestic competitions.

The defender has already arrived in Egypt and completed his medical check-up. He is expected to sign at least a three-year contract once all paperwork is finalized.
