Today, July 23, 2024, the Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam (MP), will present the mid-year budget statement and economic policy of the government in accordance with Section 28 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).
This marks the first time Dr. Adam will address Parliament since assuming his position as Finance Minister. He is expected to provide an update on the implementation of the 2024 budget, offering insights into the economic and fiscal performance for the first half of the year.
The update will cover key areas such as growth measures, revenue and expenditure performance, financing, debt sustainability, and the IMF-supported Post-COVID-19 Programme for Economic Growth.
Additionally, Dr. Adam will present a document outlining the implementation plan for the remainder of the year. This will include a potential review of proposed growth policies, with a focus on SME growth, the status of key government programs, revenue measures, expenditure controls, and financing adjustments based on the half-year performance.
