Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Evans Bobie Opoku, has assured that the poor condition of the Accra Sports Stadium pitch will be addressed soon.

Speaking to Channel One Sports on the sidelines of the Democracy Cup curtain-raiser game, Bobie Opoku expressed concerns about the state of the pitch, which he described as “not all that good.”

The game, featuring a select side from Ghana’s Parliament and former Black Stars players, was attended by several notable dignitaries including Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, and former Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye.

After representing the Ghana Parliament side, which won the match 3-1, Bobie Opoku addressed the issue of the poor pitch.

“The pitch itself is not all that good. This is the complaint that we’ve been receiving… the Honourable Minister (Mustapha Ussif) has promised that we need to do something about it so very soon Ghanaians will hear something about it.

“The pitch is not good at all and when you are running and you’re not careful, you will fall down,” he admitted.

The Democracy Cup event also featured members from Ghana’s 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups, including Sulley Muntari, Derek Boateng, John Mensah, and John Paintsil.
