In response to a legal challenge now before the Supreme Court, Parliament has announced the suspension of nomination consideration.

This decision follows an interlocutory injunction filed by MP Rockson-Nelson Etse K. Dafeamekpor, effectively halting the approval process for the President’s picks.

Additionally, a directive from the presidency has instructed Parliament to cease progress on the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill due to ongoing legal proceedings.

Speaker Bagbin emphasized the importance of upholding legislative authority and democratic principles amidst these challenges.

Parliament’s decision to await the Supreme Court’s ruling reflects a commitment to the rule of law and ensuring constitutional requirements are met before proceeding.
