Ofosu Asamoah, the Executive Secretary of the National Labour Commission (NLC), has clarified that the commission has not received any formal notification regarding accommodation issues affecting healthcare delivery at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). He mentioned that neither the Ministry of Health, the doctors, the Ghana Health Service, nor the Regional Minister has submitted a report on the matter, despite the ongoing industrial action by doctors at the facility.

In an interview on JoyNews’ Top Story on Wednesday, March 13, Mr. Asamoah stated that he has directed the NLC’s Ashanti Regional office to investigate the matter due to its significance and the critical services provided by doctors at KATH.

Regarding the industrial action by doctors at KATH, Mr. Asamoah highlighted the importance of promptly reporting issues to the NLC within three days for arbitration. He noted that the commission had not received any official reports apart from media coverage.

Mr. Asamoah also mentioned the alleged relocation of KATH by a private developer but emphasized that the NLC was unaware of the details regarding the facilities provided in the new location.

He concluded by stating that the NLC would convene a meeting to address the situation promptly and ensure a resolution, underscoring the significance of KATH as a vital healthcare facility in the country.
