A 33-year-old headteacher of a private basic school, Arthur Tettey Muala, has been remanded into prison custody by the Odumase Krobo Circuit Court.
Mr Muala was remanded for allegedly sodomising a 14-year-old former male student of his school at Kpogunor in the Lower Manya Krobo District of the Eastern Region.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges of defilement and Sodomy at his first appearance in Court on Wednesday, November 8.
The Prosecuting Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Dan Apedo, told the Court that in 2020, the suspect lured and began having anal sex with the victim repeatedly anytime he invited him to his residence before he completed school.
He is said to have allegedly warned the victim not to disclose the act to anyone.
The victim started having pains in his anus ,affecting his ability to sit properly with blood spots also detected in his urine from July 21, 2023.
Parents of the victim, uncomfortable about the symptoms the child was experiencing, quizzed him.
It was after he interrogation that he revealed the ordeal and mentioned the headteacher’s name.
The case was reported to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Odumase Police, where the Headmaster was arrested and arraigned.
He has been remanded into prison custody to reappear on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
Section 104(1)(b) of the Ghanaian Criminal Code of 1960, criminalises “unnatural carnal knowledge” (with consent and between adults), as a misdemeanour.
