In a momentous development for healthcare in the region, the Family Health Hospital has announced the re-opening of its Renal Dialysis Unit. After undergoing extensive renovations and upgrades, the unit now boasts six ultra-modern dialyzers, offering optimal haemodialysis to patients in a serene and comfortable environment.
Located within the premises of the esteemed Family Health University College (FHUC), the renovated unit is equipped with essential life support equipment, including monitor defibrillators, to effectively manage emergencies. Additionally, it features a dedicated dialysis water purification plant, ensuring the delivery of high-quality treatment to patients.
Dr. Acquaah-Arhin, the Medical Coordinator of Family Health Hospital, highlighted the institution’s commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare services. She expressed concerns over the inadequate dialysis treatment facilities in the country, which motivated the founders of FHUC to invest in the unit.
Prof. Enyonam Kwawukume, Founder and President of FHUC, commended the staff and urged them to deliver excellent professional services to all patients at the Renal Dialysis Unit and throughout the hospital. He emphasized the importance of empathy and maintaining high ethical standards while providing care. Prof. Kwawukume shared that the vision of having a Dialysis Unit in the hospital has always been one of his key desires. Furthermore, he reiterated the hospital’s dedication to offering affordable treatment to patients with kidney-related problems.
Patient reviews of the upgraded unit have been overwhelmingly positive, particularly regarding its affordability. Financial challenges often pose a significant burden for those paying out of pocket for dialysis services. The new facility offers hope and gratitude to patients who can now access modern treatments at a reasonable cost.
Kidney dialysis plays a crucial role in removing excess water and toxins from the blood for individuals with impaired kidney function. As kidney disease becomes increasingly prevalent, the demand for dialysis services continues to rise. The public is urged to learn more about kidney health and take preventive measures to safeguard their well-being.
With a highly experienced team of healthcare professionals and expertly trained technicians, the FHUC Dialysis Unit assures patients of the best possible care. Dialysis is a minimally invasive process that typically lasts a few hours per session and allows patients to return home on the same day.
