In a swift and vigilant move, NDC executives, led by Jonathan Abdallah Salifu, the Regional Communication Officer for the Upper East Region, intercepted an illegal transfer of voters from the North Region to the Bolga East Constituency. The incident, which occurred earlier today, shed light on an attempt to manipulate the voting process ahead of the 2024 elections.
The NDC executives encountered a Red KIA Bus with the registration number GE 3627-20, filled with approximately 60 people from the North East Region. Upon questioning the occupants, who initially pretended not to understand the local dialect and English, it was through Dabgani that they were able to communicate and admit that they were being bussed to the Bolga East Constituency.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the bussing operation was organized by the NPP Constituency Chairman for Bolga East, Karim, with the help of their parliamentary candidate, Mr. Matthew Amoah Silas. Their intention was to transfer the voters’ registration to Bolga East in an attempt to manipulate the outcome of the 2024 elections.
As the situation escalated, NPP members accompanying Karim attempted to provoke a confrontation, but realizing the futility of their actions, they eventually retreated. Karim later pleaded with the NDC executives to allow the individuals to return to the North East Region. After careful consideration and taking into account the innocent nature of many of the occupants, including lactating mothers and women, the NDC executives decided to escort them back to their original region.
Jonathan Abdallah Salifu, the Regional Communication Officer for the Upper East Region, urged all Akatamansonians throughout the 15 constituencies in the region to remain vigilant and actively monitor the voting process. He emphasized the importance of constant vigilance among all constituency executives, MPs, and parliamentary candidates to prevent any attempts to undermine the integrity of the election process.
This incident serves as a reminder that electoral transparency and fairness should be upheld at all costs. The swift action taken by the NDC executives demonstrates their commitment to preserving the democratic process and ensuring that every vote counts.
With the approaching 2024 elections, it is crucial for all political parties and stakeholders to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that may compromise the integrity of the electoral process.
