The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested one suspect in connection with a robbery incident at Gomoa Dabanyin in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
According to a police statement issued on Thursday, August 28, 2025, suspect Awudu Ibrahim and an accomplice, currently on the run, attacked a mobile money vendor around 7:30 p.m. on August 27 under the guise of purchasing airtime. The suspects allegedly snatched the vendor’s bag containing an undisclosed amount of money. In the process, one of them fired a gun indiscriminately in an attempt to scare off the female victim.
The victim’s cries for help attracted members of the community, who managed to apprehend Ibrahim. With the timely arrival of the Gomoa Dominase District Police patrol team, the suspect was rescued from mob action and re-arrested.
Police retrieved a loaded single-barrel gun and the stolen bag of money. Ibrahim is currently in custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are ongoing to arrest his accomplice, who fled the scene.
The Central East Regional Police Command commended the patrol team for their swift intervention and expressed gratitude to the community for their cooperation in apprehending the suspect.
DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, Head of Public Affairs for the Central East Region, assured the public that the police remain committed to ensuring such crimes are dealt with swiftly to safeguard community safety.
