Residents of Bulemi in the Weija Gbawe Municipality are in shock and disbelief after discovering that a woman in their community has been using human waste to prepare meals for herself and her two children.
Leticia Okine, who lives in an uncompleted building with her children, revealed in an interview with Onua TV that she adds urine and feces to her food, claiming it enhances taste and improves health.
In an unsettling admission, the woman explained that her actions are not a personal choice, but rather a directive from God. “What we are doing is a direction from God,” she said when questioned about the practice.
She went on to explain that urine is also used as a body ointment and to purify drinking water. Additionally, she claims some of the waste products are part of spiritual instructions and divine guidance.
Neighbors, who had long suspected something was amiss, are now horrified. Ato Quansah, chairman of the local Landlord’s Association, confirmed the family’s residence in the area, noting that the situation worsened after the children’s father left the household, reportedly unable to tolerate his wife’s “abnormal behavior.”
“Things just got out of hand after he left,” Quansah stated.
With authorities yet to intervene, residents are calling for immediate action to safeguard the children and address the growing public health and safety concerns.
