In the Bibiani Anhweaso Bekwai municipality of the Western North area, a six-bedroom home in Sehwi Akaasu, a Bekwai neighborhood, was completely destroyed by fire.
After the incident, no one was wounded, including any children.
One of the afflicted homeowners, Esi Mmrah, claims that an undisclosed sum of money from her cooperative organization was destroyed in the fire.
She mentioned that the fire had destroyed her belongings, mattresses, and other electrical equipment, demonstrating that the fire was able to inflict significant damage despite the homeowners’ valiant attempts to do so.
The late arrival of the Ghana National Fire Service was a blow to them, Nana Yaw Boadi II, the Nfatowohene of Sehwi Akaasu who also serves as the Ankobeahene of Sehwi Bekwai Traditional council, informed the media.
He emphasized that by the time he arrived at the site at 1:15 am, the father had successfully extracted his eight children from the fire without incident. They called the Sehwi Wiawso regional fire service, but when they arrived, nothing in the home could be saved.
According to Emmanuel Sowah of Onua TV, he did make a request to the Municipal Chief Executive of Bibiani Anhweaso Bekwai to assist the impacted residents.
