Why Are You So Quiet on LGBTQ? – Prophetess Asks Prez Mahama

A Prophetess from Ajumako is questioning why President John Dramani Mahama, Sam George, and the NDC government remain silent on LGBTQ+ issues since taking power from the New Patriotic Party.
The push for a law against LGBTQ+ activities has long been controversial in Ghanaian Parliament and across the country.
During the NPP era, efforts to pass and sign the bill failed despite pressure from Ghanaians, including MPs like Sam George and Rev. Intem Fordjour, pressure groups, journalists, and the public.
Over a year since Ghanaians voted in the NDC, the issue hasn’t been revived in Parliament.
The NDC campaigned heavily on signing an anti-LGBTQ+ law if elected, yet nothing has happened since they took office.
This silence has prompted Prophetess Clara Aba Koomson from Ajumako in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District, Central Region, to speak out.
In an interview with Channel 247 News’ Yaw Boagyan, Prophetess Koomson appealed to the government to declare its stance whether it will accept or reject the act.
She urged President Mahama and the NDC to sign the anti-LGBTQ+ bill before “God descends heavily on the country.”
According to her, she heard the President promise during campaigns to sign it immediately upon election, but he’s failing to deliver.
She wants him to address LGBTQ+ firmly in his upcoming State of the Nation Address, declaring his position and actions.
