According to NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the caliber of voters who prevailed in the elections held on Saturday gives the party confidence to win the general elections in 2024.

He predicts that the party will retain the presidency and add a few more members to its total in the House of Representatives to become the nation’s next administration.

His optimism for the 2024 elections originates from the fact that monetisation failed in the primary, where several candidates spent a lot of money on the polling places but ultimately lost.

According to him, the fact that the delegates didn’t choose the party’s leaders in 2024 primarily on who had paid the most money is proof that the appropriate candidates were selected.

“We are happy that so far the quality of candidates that have been produced in this election give us confidence that we will go into 2024 and win presidential, win a significant majority in Parliament, and also deliver on the charge of rescuing this country,” he said following the results on May 14, 2023.

Even though they chose qualified people, he continued, “we are not going to say we have the men. For you to confirm, NDC, that we do indeed have the men, we need the men to demonstrate their worth.

He saw the outcome as demonstrating the superiority of the foot soldier. Who becomes who in the NDC, according to him, is no longer dictated by wealth.

“This election has proven the might of the party’s footsoldiers. After the EC announced the results of the primaries, he added, “One noteworthy thing that we learned is that money cannot determine who wins the votes in NDC anymore.

“We heard stories about big men, possibly wealthy men who could win elections,” the national chairman of the NDC remarked. Despite their immense fortune and the rumors we heard about the things they threatened to distribute, none of them could win.

Franklin Fifi Kwetey, general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has indicated that the party’s victorious primaries are the first stage in their plan to unseat the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which is now in power.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, May 14, 2023, immediately following the announcement of the results, Mr. Kwetey gave the nation’s citizens and supporters of the umbrella fraternity the assurance that the NDC will save Ghana from the subpar governance of the Akufo-Addo led administration.

The former president is the party’s flagbearer, and he claims that the confidence placed in them would not be in vain because they will do everything in their power to protect Ghana from the poor leadership the NPP has given Ghanaians.

“For us, this is the start of the journey toward 2024, and we want to reassure all of our supporters across the length and breadth of our nation, as well as the larger population of Ghana, that we are definitely going to make sure that this is the first of a long journey toward making sure that we salvage this country come December 7, 2024.

He declared, “We are going to do everything possible to make sure that the confidence that is reposed not just in the leadership of the party but also via this election, the faith that has been reposed in His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, is not to fall down at all.

With a staggering 98.9% of the total votes cast on Saturday, May 13, John Dramani Mahama was chosen former president.
